The festive season is still ongoing and in the next few days, we’ll see the final set of fixtures in the Saudi Pro League before they go on their festive break. We’re over half way through the campaign and although many teams know what they’re aiming for, there are bound to be a few twists and turns in the months ahead. Today, we’ll be taking a look at a fun clash between Al Riyadh and Damac.
Al Riyadh Form GuideAl Riyadh are a known club in terms of their longevity, but their prime really came in the 80s and 90s. Ever since then, they’ve been attempting to relive those glory days, which has brought them back to the big time. They’re expected to be one of the clubs in the relegation mix this season, but we can’t imagine that’s going to stop them from putting their best foot forward.
Following a humbling 4-1 defeat on the road to Al-Nassr, Al Riyadh went back to the drawing board - but they were only able to manage a 1-0 defeat against Al-Khaleej. Then, on Christmas Eve, they put up a fight, but ultimately lost 3-1 to Al-Wehda in another disappointing outing.
Damac Form GuideIt’s become pretty common for clubs to be measured in terms of their silverware and while we do understand the logic behind that, it’s also worth noting that teams should also be praised for their ability to rise up through the ranks. Damac have scratched and clawed their way from the lower leagues to the top, and they should be proud of that journey - as well as what could come next.
Very few teams are working as well as a unit as Damac right now. They are tearing through their opposition with ruthless aggression, and they’ve been able to win their last five games against Al-Tai, Al-Raed, Al-Ittihad, Al-Fayha and Abha in impressive fashion.
Match PredictionAl Riyadh need to reassess where they’re at as a club during the winter break because right now, they are struggling in pretty much every department. The same can’t be said for their opponents who are flying as high as you could imagine, which is why we’re predicting a Damac win.
