We’re in the endgame now. The Premier League season has entered the final stretch with just eight or fewer games remaining for the majority of clubs. There’s a lot on the line at both ends of the table, as we know, and we’re bound to see plenty of twists and turns in the weeks to come. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Aston Villa and Brentford.
Aston Villa Form GuideAston Villa fans are on cloud nine right now. They’re looking good in the Conference League, they are in the top four mix in the Premier League, and their home form is out of this world. The boys from the second city are absolutely flying under Unai Emery and if they can carry this momentum forward, there are a lot of options for the club - and they’re all pretty exciting.
Following a dominant 4-0 win over Ajax, Villa were held to a 1-1 draw on the road against West Ham. They bounced back with a nice 2-0 win over Midlands rivals Wolves, but against Manchester City, their depleted team simply couldn’t compete in a 4-1 defeat.
Brentford Form GuideFor the first time since being promoted to the Premier League, it does feel as if there’s a bit of panic in the air at Brentford. As a club, they’re still being run very well, and they aren’t in any immediate danger when it comes to the relegation battle. At the same time, it only takes one bad run of form to lead you down the wrong path, and the Bees have shown some real weaknesses lately.
In recent times, Brentford haven’t been able to buy a win. Over the course of their last six games, they’ve suffered defeats to West Ham, Arsenal and Burnley. They have, however, also managed to pick up a point against Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton.
Match PredictionBrentford are blowing hot and cold right now so it’s tough to know where they really stand coming into a game like this. With that being said, we have a fair level of confidence behind us when we say that the hosts are the clear favourites, and we’re going to back them in an Aston Villa win.
