We’ve reached the FA Cup fifth round and this is where the remaining sixteen clubs can really start to dream about a place at Wembley. There are drastically different teams left in the competition and with so much on the line, we’re excited to see how these eight games play out. Today, we’ll be taking a look at one of the most interesting matches of the round as Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Wolves Form GuideWolverhampton Wanderers fans have been on cloud nine over the course of the last few months. Gary O’Neil has surprised many by guiding them to an incredible first two thirds of the season, and it seems like there’s still a lot more to come. With the FA Cup, we’d argue they’re in with a great chance of making their first appearance at Wembley since 2019.
Following a 1-1 draw with Brentford in the third round, Wolves were able to come out on top with a 3-2 victory in the replay. From there, they travelled to take on bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, and they proved their value in a solid 2-0 win.
Brighton Form GuideBrighton & Hove Albion are still one of the most exciting teams to watch in English football and that much is obvious. In equal measure, there are many questioning whether or not they’ve hit their ceiling. Regardless of whether or not you agree with such a perspective, nobody can deny that their squad is full of talent that, in a lot of ways, has the potential to take them to new heights.
In the third round, Brighton went on the road to battle Stoke - and they did enough to come away with a 4-2 win. Then, in the fourth round, they were able to go one better, winning the game 5-2 in Yorkshire.
Match PredictionThis one has the potential to produce fireworks but in fact, what we instead think will happen is that the two sides will cancel each other out for long spells. It’s likely, in our view, that it’ll end in a draw after 90 minutes, but we’re more confident in predicting under 2.5 goals scored.
