We’re in the endgame now. The Premier League season has entered the final stretch with just eight or fewer games remaining for the majority of clubs. There’s a lot on the line at both ends of the table, as we know, and we’re bound to see plenty of twists and turns in the weeks to come. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Everton and Burnley.
Everton Form GuideEverton manager Sean Dyche isn’t the kind of guy to let his team go quietly into the night. With that in mind, and with their legal situation still ongoing with the Premier League, we’d argue that the club feeling ‘slighted’ could really help them in the months that lie ahead. There’s no guarantee of survival in a division like this one, but for some reason, they just don’t know how to quit.
After 1-1 draws with Crystal Palace and Brighton, Everton fell to three straight defeats courtesy of West Ham, Manchester United and Bournemouth. They did, however, manage to put up a late fight against Newcastle, with the end result being another 1-1 draw.
Burnley Form GuideWe’re at the point now where it’s okay for Burnley fans to start panicking. The Clarets enjoyed a really strong run in the Championship but unfortunately for their loyal fanbase, they haven’t been able to make a smooth transition back into the top flight. Vincent Kompany will continue to fight, but it’s easy to understand why there’s so much uncertainty surrounding the club.
Since losing to Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, Burnley have been riding a four-game unbeaten run - but wins have still been in short supply. They did manage to defeat Brentford to run alongside draws with West Ham, Chelsea and, most recently, Wolves.
Match PredictionBoth of these teams are in desperation mode and they really need some points on the board. When you factor that into the equation, it becomes pretty clear to see that they’ll need to go for it - or at least, that’s what their instinct will be. In our view, the most likely outcome here is over 2.5 goals scored.
