We’ve reached the FA Cup fifth round and this is where the remaining sixteen clubs can really start to dream about a place at Wembley. There are drastically different teams left in the competition and with so much on the line, we’re excited to see how these eight games play out. Today, we’ll be taking a look at one of the most interesting matches of the round as Chelsea play host to Leeds United.
Chelsea Form GuideThis season hasn’t been particularly fruitful for Mauricio Pochettino and while it may not seem like it, a lot rests on how his Chelsea side perform in the FA Cup. Yes, they’ve got a lot of work to do in the Premier League and that much goes without saying, but there’s a decent chance they could make a push for some silverware here if they continue to get favourable draws.
Chelsea looked really solid against Preston in the third round as they eased to a 4-0 win over the Championship side. They went on to draw 0-0 with Aston Villa in the fourth round, but in the replay, they looked better than anyone expected in a 3-1 win.
Leeds Form GuideLeeds United have been on an incredible run of form as of late and because of that, they’re now viewed as one of the favourites to gain promotion from the Championship this season. In addition, they’ve pretty much got a free hit in this clash given what their main priority is for the season, and their loyal fanbase will be salivating at the prospect of a Wembley appearance.
Leeds went on the road to face Peterborough in the third round and dispatched of them with relative ease in a 3-0 triumph. They were then held to a 1-1 draw by Plymouth, but in the replay, they showed far more composure in a dominant 4-1 win down south.
Match PredictionThe Blues are wounded after their League Cup final defeat but despite that, we’re still of the belief they have something to offer between now and the end of the campaign. In what is considered to be a pretty tense rivalry, we’re going to predict a Chelsea victory.
