The League Two playoff final hasn't really turned out as many people expected it to. Both Crawley and Crewe were strong outsiders for their semi finals, but both won, and they're here at Wembley. With a place in League One at stake, the game is huge, but which one of these two will come out on top?
Crawley Town Form GuideAfter both legs of the semi final, the talk was all about how badly MK Dons had done, and I felt sorry for Crawley with that narrative. They deserved a ton of credit for how well they played, and yes, MK Dons were huge disappointments, but Crawley took advantage in style.
They scored eight goals in the two games, and while MK Dons didn't defend well, they can't put the ball in their own net, Crawley did that. I thought at home they were really strong, got on the front foot and went to win the game, and away, they countered well, taking advantage of gaps that were left.
Crewe Form GuideFair play to Crewe, they were 2-0 down after their home leg against Doncaster in the semi finals, and somehow pulled it back. Had they gone to Doncaster and not won, looking down and beaten, no one would have blamed them. But a strong start to that second game saw them score twice and get back in it, even if they showed little elsewhere.
That's the big conundrum with Crewe, because other than a decent start to both games, I think they've been pretty poor. Yes, in the second leg, you can blame tiredness on them not looking as good, but in the final part of that game, plus extra time, Doncaster looked the most likely to score.
Match PredictionI think Crawley can get the job done here. They should come into this game feeling great about themselves, and on the back of two very good performances. I'll take them to win this and reach League One.
