We’ve arrived at the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs as twelve nations attempt to make their way through to the big tournament this summer. These teams have put in a great deal of effort in order to get to this stage and with just two games separating them and glory, they’ll do everything in their power to get across the finish line. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Wales and Finland.
Wales Form GuideThe Dragons are beginning to find their feet on the international stage as they have now qualified for three of the last four major tournaments. Their World Cup adventure didn’t quite go to plan but in equal measure, they’ve looked pretty good at the European level. Their Euro 2016 exploits will always be fondly remembered but now, it’s all about showing growth in a post-Gareth Bale landscape.
In terms of their group campaign, Wales will be left feeling slightly disappointed. They finished 3rd out of five countries in Group D, picking up 12 points from their eight games with three wins, three draws and two losses.
Finland Form GuideBack at Euro 2021, Finland finally made an appearance in the competition they’d never appeared in before. They got a win on the board, showcased some of their nation’s strengths on the pitch, and generally had a really nice flow to their game. Now, though, they need to try and prove it wasn’t a one-off, and they need to really make the most of their impact players.
In terms of their group campaign, Finland will be left feeling fairly satisfied. They finished 3rd out of six countries in Group H, picking up 18 points from their ten games with six wins, no draws and four losses.
Match PredictionWales and Finland both have attacking stars that can make things happen and while they can be strong defensively, we think there’s going to be too much activity in the final third for both to deal with. Therefore, we’re going to back over 2.5 goals scored in this one.
