UEFA Euro 2024 will take place next summer and the road to qualifying for that tournament continues this week with the latest international break. As clubs across the continent hit the pause button on their domestic leagues, plenty of countries will be hoping to edge closer to the finals. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun encounter between Hungary and Serbia.
Hungary Form GuideHistorically speaking, Hungary have enjoyed some truly memorable moments in their international history - and in recent times, they’ve done well to qualify for the last two editions of the European Championships. They reached the round of 16 back in 2016, and even though they didn’t get out of the group stage in 2021, they fought as hard as they could throughout and impressed the masses.
Following on from a 3-0 win over Bulgaria back in March, Hungary only managed a 0-0 draw with Montenegro before two big wins over Lithuania and Serbia to really set themselves up nicely as the race to qualify heats up.
Serbia Form GuideBizarrely, despite qualifying for three of the last four World Cup tournaments, Serbia haven’t been able to qualify for the Euros since breaking away from Montenegro. They certainly have a good structure and many would argue that they have an impressive squad, but sometimes, that isn’t always enough - although, you can bet they’ll be putting their best foot forward in this one.
After beating Lithuania and Montenegro, the Serbians were held to a 1-1 draw by Bulgaria before suffering a 2-1 defeat against Hungary. They did, however, manage to bounce back against Lithuania with a nice 3-1 win last month.
Match PredictionOne thing we’re counting on when it comes to this clash is excitement, especially given where both are situated in the group. They fought hard in their last encounter and more of the same should be on the horizon, which is why we’re predicting over 2.5 goals will be scored.
