A simply huge game at the top of the Championship table on Friday night. It's 1st v 2nd, as league leaders Leicester travel away from home to take on Leeds. The gap as we stand is nine points, if Leeds win this, it becomes six, and then it really is game on for the top spot, not just the automatic promotion spots. Of course, should Leicester manage a win, they kick further clear of one of their biggest dangers, it couldn't get any bigger.
Leeds Form GuideLeeds always looked like a side that would improve with time. The adjustment back to the Championship, a new manager, new players, some leaving and some unhappy they were still at the club, all factors that played into that. I think what we are seeing now is the best of Leeds, they've been excellent recently, and have a chance at winning the title, not just at being promoted.
They arrive on the back of eight league wins in a row, a run that started at the turn of the year. They've played three cup games in that period, winning two and drawing one, so it's been nothing short of excellent. They've not conceded a goal in their last three games either, with a 2-0 win at Plymouth, a 4-0 win at Swansea and a 3-0 home win over Rotherham. For league games only, that run of not conceding stretches to five games.
Leicester Form GuideAs good, and as dominant as Leeds have been, it's a sign of how good Leicester have been all season when you see they are nine points ahead of a team like Leeds, who are on a remarkable run. 25 wins from 33 games is a great record, they've also scored for fun, the top scorers in the league with 69 goals so far.
But Leicester do come here on the back of a defeat last weekend, they lost 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough, a game they never really looked like winning, and will hope it was a one off. Before that, they won four straight in the league, the most recent of those being a comfortable 2-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.
