We’re in the endgame now, ladies and gentlemen. The Premier League season is entering the final furlong with just a handful of games remaining for clubs up and down English football’s top tier. Whether it be the title race, the relegation battle or anything in between, there’s still a lot left to be determined. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Everton and Liverpool.
Everton Form GuideEverton manager Sean Dyche isn’t the kind of guy to let his team go quietly into the night. With that in mind, and with their legal situation still ongoing with the Premier League, we’d argue that the club feeling ‘slighted’ could really help them in the months that lie ahead. There’s no guarantee of survival in a division like this one, but for some reason, they just don’t know how to quit.
Following losses to Manchester United and Bournemouth, Everton picked up a point in a draw with Newcastle before edging past Burnley 1-0. They did go on to get battered 6-0 by Chelsea, but they rebounded with a controversial 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool Form GuideLiverpool fans now know that their title destiny is out of their own hands. Of course, everyone wants to send Jurgen Klopp off in the most magical way imaginable, but they’ll have to rely on help from elsewhere if they want to do that. They have the quality necessary to win the remainder of their games but psychologically, they’ve certainly taken a blow or two as of late.
Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Sheffield United was followed by a 2-2 draw with Manchester United, and then, they were beaten by Atalanta over two legs in the Europa League to run alongside a defeat to Crystal Palace. They did, however, get back on track with a 3-1 win over Fulham.
Match PredictionA Merseyside derby, regardless of when it takes place, is always going to be pretty feisty - and that’s exactly the kind of energy we’re expecting in this one. The Toffees are hungry to push themselves even further away from the drop zone, but we’re still going to go for a Liverpool win.
