After a quick start to the campaign, Malmo have quickly asserted themselves in the Allsvenskan, and moved to the top of the table. They are in action on Thursday night, looking to maintain a nice lead at the top, and welcome Gais as the visitors in one of four games taking place that night.
Malmo Form GuideEight games into the new season and Malmo have seven wins on the board. With 21 points, they're five clear already, and will be thrilled with the progress made to gain that lead, which could stretch further this week. With 22 goals, they're averaging almost three per game, and conceding four, that's just an average of 0.5 a game.
They won at the weekend, a 3-0 success away from home against Goteborg. Their one and only defeat of the season came before that, they lost 3-1 away at Elfsborg. It came just four days after winning the Svensken Cupen Final on penalties, so I'll forgive them that, and other than that game, it has been perfect.
Gais Form GuideGais have a big task on their hands here, but they've been playing really well and deserve a lot of credit for their own start. Eight games in, they've won five and lost three, giving them 15 points for 4th position in the table, before the midweek games begin.
They come here on the back of winning their last two games, the most recent being a 2-0 home win over Vasteras on Saturday. Before that, they again won at home, this time a 2-1 win over Goteborg. They've lost three, and two of those have been away from home, their last two losses, so I do think they're a much better side at home, rather than away.
Match PredictionI think this will be another win for Malmo, and on top of that, I think they will win comfortably again. Five of their seven wins have been by two goals or more, and that's what I'm backing here. Malmo look good value on the -1.5 Asian handicap line, to win this by two clear goals.
