The Premier League is back with a full slate of exciting midweek fixtures for fans to sink their teeth into over the course of the next few days. As we enter the month of April, it’s clear to see that we’re getting into the nitty-gritty of the campaign with teams at both ends of the table still having a lot left to fight for. Today, we’ll take a look at the upcoming clash between Manchester City and Aston Villa.
Manchester City Form GuideManchester City are once again considered to be the clear favourites to win the Premier League title, and it’s not hard to see why. Pep Guardiola has built an absolute juggernaut of a squad and as we look ahead to the future, you’d have to imagine that the only big question mark is surrounding the punishment they could receive for their financial charges off the pitch.
Across their last six games, Manchester City have picked up four wins over Luton, Manchester United, Copenhagen and Newcastle. In addition, they’ve also taken on title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, only managing a point against both in frustrating draws.
Aston Villa Form GuideAston Villa fans are on cloud nine right now. They’re looking good in the Conference League, they are in the top four mix in the Premier League, and their home form is out of this world. The boys from the second city are absolutely flying under Unai Emery and if they can carry this momentum forward, there are a lot of options for the club - and they’re all pretty exciting.
Villa’s only defeat in their last six games was a pretty strange one as they were humbled 4-0 by Tottenham at Villa Park. Outside of that, they’ve knocked Ajax out of the Conference League, drawn with West Ham and secured big wins over Luton and Wolves in the PL.
Match PredictionIf there are going to be hiccups for City between now and the end of the season, games like this are where they could stem from. Villa have a whole lot of quality at their disposal and we expect to see them utilise that in this encounter. With that being said, we’re still going to go ahead and predict a narrow Manchester City win.
