We’ve arrived at the quarter-final stage of this season’s FA Cup as all eight remaining clubs attempt to book their place at Wembley. They’ve all done incredibly well to get to this point in the competition and now, they’re just two wins away from being able to compete for the trophy. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an electric clash between Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Manchester City Form GuideManchester City are once again considered to be the clear favourites to win the Premier League title, and it’s not hard to see why. Pep Guardiola has built an absolute juggernaut of a squad and as we look ahead to the future, you’d have to imagine that the only big question mark is surrounding the punishment they could receive for their financial charges off the pitch.
City didn’t have to break a sweat in the third round as they secured a pretty comfortable 5-0 win over Huddersfield. From there, they narrowly edged past Tottenham in a 1-0 victory, before going on to defeat Luton with relative ease in a 6-2 triumph.
Newcastle Form GuideWhile things are certainly moving in a positive direction for Newcastle United Football Club, things haven’t been smooth sailing for Eddie Howe’s men this season. They’re currently lingering around mid-table and while there’s still a decent chance they could win silverware between now and the end of May, they need to make some big tactical adjustments.
Newcastle got the job done against bitter rivals Sunderland in the third round with a confident and comfortable 3-0 win. They went on to defeat Fulham 2-0, and in the fifth round, they were given a scare by Blackburn before just about edging past them 4-3 on penalties.
Match PredictionOn their day, Newcastle are more than good enough to make some noise against the best of the best - but they’ve really been struggling as of late. We’re not confident in their ability to push back against the hosts here, which is why we’re backing a comfortable Manchester City win.
