We’re into the endgame of the Ligue One campaign and there’s still a lot left to be determined at both ends of the table. With clubs competing for Europe, clubs attempting to avoid relegation and others just trying to make a strong push for the finish line, it’ll be interesting to see how things shake out. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Metz and Lens.
Metz Form GuideAfter just one season away from the spotlight, Metz are back in the big time - and they’re ready to ruffle a few feathers. They aren’t considered to be too much of a threat by the elite of the elite but for them, that probably won’t matter a whole lot. They have the talent necessary to spring an upset here and there, and you can bet they’re going to put up a much better fight this time around.
Following a loss to Lyon at the end of February, Metz rebounded with two nice wins over Nantes and Clermont. However, they’ve gone on to lose three more on the bounce, suffering defeats at the hands of Reims, Monaco and Brest.
Lens Form GuideLast season, Lens truly did push PSG every step of the way in the title race and that’s a huge credit to how much hard work they’ve been putting in as a club in recent years. They were just one point away from springing an upset and for them, that’s a big takeaway. Now, though, they need to re-focus, because they’re certainly good enough to push for Europe again.
After losing 3-2 to Monaco, Lens beat Lyon and Brest in two nice results. Since then, however, they haven’t won a game, falling to defeats against Nice and Lille before only managing to muster up a 1-1 draw at home to Le Havre.
Match PredictionIn terms of how the season was panning out for the first couple of months, it certainly seemed as if these two sides would be in a relatively similar position by the time April rolled around. Alas, one has managed to dig themselves out of trouble, which is why we’re backing a Lens win.
