On Saturday afternoon, RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen clash at the Red Bull Arena in a Bundesliga game that now means very little in the standings.
RB Leipzig have already secured a Champions League spotDie Roten Bullen, are currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga with two rounds of games remaining, only three points clear of fifth-place Borussia Dortmund.
However, five German teams will play in European football's elite competition next season due to Bundesliga teams thriving in the Champions League.
Marco Rose’s team has been in decent form in the German top flight recently. A 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim may have ended a four-game winning streak in the Bundesliga, but it extended their unbeaten run to nine league outings.
The home team has also been relatively prolific of late in the German top flight, scoring at least two goals in seven of their last nine matches.
RB Leipzig’s recent home form has been strong. Die Roten Bullen are unbeaten in six home games in the Bundesliga, having recorded five wins and a draw.
Werder is unbeaten in three gamesThe visitors are unbeaten in three matches in the Bundesliga, having recorded two wins and a draw. Ole Werner’s team has also scored at least two goals in all three of their unbeaten games.
The stellar run has moved Werder up to 11th place in the German top flight, nine points clear of the relegation play-off.
Bremen ended a four-game winless run on their travels in the Bundesliga by recording an excellent 3-0 victory at Augsburg in their last game.
Werder’s recent away games in the German top-flight have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last previous five away games in the Bundesliga.
What am I backing? Both teams seem to be in decent form at the moment. However, the bet I am backing is the home win, simply because of RB Leipzig’s stellar home record.
