We’re at the end of a long season over in France as the nation’s top flight season comes to an end on Sunday. There are still a few key things to iron out as we approach the final set of fixtures but for the most part, we’ve got a pretty good idea of how things are going to shape up. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at the collision between Reims and Rennes.
Reims Form GuideThe future of Reims is pretty uncertain right now following the departure of Will Still. He was able to take the club to great heights, but they have to start thinking about the next step. The summer transfer window is right around the corner and they’ve got lots to consider both on and off the pitch, especially if they want to hang around the top half again next season.
Reims travelled to take on Brest last Friday and we’d say they actually played really well, all things considered. They weren’t outmatched by any stretch of the imagination and when the full time whistle blew, we imagine they would’ve been pretty happy with the 1-1 draw they secured.
Rennes Form GuideA strong end to the campaign ensured that Rennes finished in the top four last season, and that’s exactly what they deserved. They continue to build as a club to the point where it’s hard not to take them seriously at this level. They’re fun to watch, they have an incredible fanbase, and they have a squad that is capable of beating just about anyone in the league.
Rennes and Lens, when playing to the best of their abilities, aren’t actually that far off one another in our opinion. That theory played out before our very eyes when they met last Sunday, with both teams getting on the scoresheet in a competitive 1-1 draw.
Match PredictionReims and Rennes both know that they don’t have much to fight for here, but on the final day, we tend to see teams just go for it in the name of finishing strong - which is what we’re expecting from this game. As such, we’re going to predict over 2.5 goals scored.
