We’re back with the final international break of 2023 as we continue down the road to UEFA Euro 2024. It’s safe to say that things are really starting to heat up in pretty much every group as nations qualify and make their push to reach the playoffs. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing battle between Romania and Switzerland.
Romania Form GuideRomania are the kind of national team that are difficult to predict from one tournament to the next. From time to time, they can pull off a major upset that leads you to believe their star players have what it takes to get them to the next level. On the flip side, they have a tendency to allow complacency to come into their setup. Either way, they regularly provide us with must-see international football.
Romania knew that they faced a tough test when they made the trip to take on Israel, but kudos to them for handling it with style. They edged out a 2-1 victory, confirming their place in the Euros for the first time since 2016.
Switzerland Form GuideFor so many years now, Switzerland have been seen as dark horses in a lot of the international competitions they qualify for. In the end, though, they ultimately just make up the numbers, either falling away in the group stage or failing to do much of significance in the knockouts. Still, there’s a belief within the core of their squad, and that’s all you can really ask for at this point.
They may have qualified for the final tournament, but Switzerland have had some faltering results so far this year. They have drawn five of their last six games, and they kept that run going over the weekend in a 1-1 draw with Kosovo.
Match PredictionRomania and Switzerland have both already qualified for next year’s tournament, and we’d like to think they will use this as an opportunity to make a statement as they attempt to preserve their unbeaten records. Our prediction here is going to be over 2.5 goals scored.
