Notts County and Salford City both find themselves in the bottom half of League Two as we head into the weekend. They've got little to play for other than pride, but with both of them having what I think are disappointing seasons, they'll both want to finish well and set themselves up for another shot next season.
Notts County Form GuideComing up from the National League last season, Notts County were amongst the favourites for promotion again this season. They began well too, but since former boss Luke Williams left and moved to Championship team Swansea, County have really struggled, and dropped down the table.
But are we now seeing a small upturn from Notts County, something they can use between now and the end of the season? They come here on the back of a great 3-0 win at Bradford in midweek, and before that, another solid away performance with a 2-2 draw at Accrington Stanley. Still not perfect, but it is certainly much better.
Salford City Form GuideSalford are another team that have disappointed me this season. A playoff team last season, I expected the same this time around, but definitely the top half of the table as a minimum, however, they come into the weekend in 20th, a season that will go down as disappointing, even if they have a good end.
Salford also come here on the back of a win, they won 3-1 last weekend at home to Morecambe. Before that, they drew 2-2 at home to Stockport. They did go four without a win before that, and only a continuation of their recent positive form would be enough to get them up the table, given their position.
Match PredictionI like Notts County here, and am backing them for the win. They look like they may discover early season form again, they played well on Tuesday night, and I think all of that would be enough for them to get a win here.
