As we head into Euro 2024, England are the current favourites for the tournament and will come into it with a lot of pressure and expectations on them. They have a group they are expected to win, and begin their campaign on Sunday evening, in the last of three games taking place that day. Serbia are their opponents a team who will no doubt be coming here looking to spoil the party.
Serbia Form GuideBehind England and Denmark, Serbia are the third favourites in Group C, but with a chance to qualify by finishing third in the group, they'll be looking to get points on the board by any means, in a bid to make the knockout round. They have a tough start, as tough ass anyone, but it could be a time to catch England cold.
Serbia played two friendly games in preparation for this tournament, one will have disappointed them, but the other was an excellent result. The positive was a big 3-0 win away from home against Sweden, a really positive result against a side that haven't qualified, but are still at a good standard. Before that, not as good, as they lost 2-1 against Austria.
England Form GuideTournament favourites, I'm not sure any other team has more pressure on their shoulders than England do heading into the tournament. This is where it's been building, young players developing and growing together, leading to the situation we have now, where England have one of the best core groups in world football, not just Europe.
Losing finalists in 2020, knocked out of the World Cup by France in disappointing fashion, is it third time lucky for Gareth Southgate and this bunch of players. They won 3-0 at home to Bosnia in their first warm up game, but threw it all away when losing 1-0 to Iceland in their final game. They need to bounce back here, but it's likely to be a nervy start, as England find their feet.
Match PredictionThis is a tough game to find value in, so I am going to keep things simple. I think England will find a way to win, it may not be pretty and they are likely to grow and get better as the tournament goes on, but I think they'll get an important three points here, and start in the best possible way.
