Sevilla and Roma will collide this week in the 2023 UEFA Europa League final in Budapest.
Sevilla Form GuideWhen it comes to the Europa League, nobody is better than Sevilla. They are the kings of this particular competition, having won it six times previously, and very few of us should be surprised to see them back in the big dance once again. Their La Liga campaign hasn’t been up to their usual standard but even with that being the case, they’re still seen as favourites by many here.
Back in the quarter-finals, Sevilla had to overcome one of the leading challengers for the crown when they defeated Manchester United over the course of two legs. They proceeded to battle Juventus in the semi-finals, and once again, they dug deep to get over the finish line.
Roma Form GuideFollowing on from their triumph in the Conference League last season, Roma have been able to grow even further and climb the European ladder. They are preparing for their second final in two years and with someone like Jose Mourinho at the helm, it’s hard to look past them. Sure, they aren’t quite as experienced in this competition as their opponents, but that’s never stopped The Special One before.
A rematch of last year’s Conference League final saw Roma take on Feyenoord in the quarter-finals and despite a tricky first leg in which they lost, they came out fighting and dominated the second. Then, in the semis, they edged past Bayer Leverkusen to reach the final.
Latest Team NewsMarcao is injured and will miss out for this one with Acuna being suspended, but aside from that, Sevilla have no other major concerns.
Karsdorp and Kumbulla are both injured for Roma but Dybala, Pellegrini and Matic are expected to return to the side.
Match PredictionThis is a tough one to call between two teams that know how to win when it matters the most - at least, that can certainly be said for Jose. We don’t expect this to be a very open game with both keeping it tight at the back, but ultimately, the experience factor will come into play as Sevilla win to claim their seventh title.
