Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve finally arrived. The UEFA Euro 2024 final is upon us as two nations prepare to battle it out for the right to be called European champions. It has the potential to be one of the most entertaining finals we’ve seen in recent memory as fans from across the globe converge on Berlin. Today, we’re here to preview and predict the titanic showdown between Spain and England.
Spain Form GuideSpain have been the best team in the tournament so far and they deserve to be here. They are also previous three-time winners of the Euros and if they triumph on Sunday, that will make them the most successful nation of all time in this competition. They have the squad and momentum necessary to get over the finish line, and now, it’s just a case of executing their game plan.
Following on from a dominant 3-0 win over Croatia, Spain rounded out a perfect group stage with 1-0 wins over Italy and Albania. From there, they dominated Georgia 4-1, edged past hosts Germany 2-1 in extra time, and came from 1-0 down to defeat France 2-1 in an electric semi-final.
England Form GuideEngland fans have been through some serious highs and lows on their way to the final but somehow, they’ve made it - just as they did back in 2021. Gareth Southgate has received a great deal of criticism but they’ve slowly been making the kind of improvements that should give fans confidence. Whether or not football will finally come home, though, is a tough question to answer.
After an unconvincing 1-0 win over Serbia, England were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Denmark - and then a poor 0-0 draw against Slovenia. In the knockouts, they needed a late winner to get past Slovakia, required penalties to defeat Switzerland, and dramatically defeated Netherlands thanks to a late Ollie Watkins strike.
Match PredictionThere’s a chance this could be a one-sided battering, and there’s a chance this could be a really tight game that goes all the way to penalties - but either way, we’re pretty confident in our winner. We expect to see Spain lift the trophy for the fourth time, and it’ll probably happen within 90 minutes.
