We’ve arrived at the quarter-final stage of this season’s FA Cup as all eight remaining clubs attempt to book their place at Wembley. They’ve all done incredibly well to get to this point in the competition and now, they’re just two wins away from being able to compete for the trophy. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an electric clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City.
Wolves Form GuideWolverhampton Wanderers are looking really good right now and Gary O’Neil deserves a lot of plaudits for what he’s been able to do at the club. When he came in, they were seen as one of the favourites to go down - but at this point, their focus is on the top half as opposed to the bottom three. With a decent cup run to go alongside that, the kings of the Black Country are sitting pretty.
Following a 1-1 draw with Brentford in the third round, Wolves managed to defeat their fellow Premier League side 3-2 in the replay. From there, they beat bitter rivals West Brom 2-0 in the fourth round, before narrowly seeing off the challenge of Brighton 1-0.
Coventry Form GuideFollowing on from a campaign in which they reached the playoff final, Coventry City have done an excellent job of keeping their composure and going again in the Championship. In addition to putting in a great shift in the second tier, though, they’ve also been on quite the run in the FA Cup - to the point where they are now just one day away from another day out at Wembley.
Coventry started off strong in the FA Cup as they tore Oxford United apart 6-2. Then, in the fourth round, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield Wednesday before winning the replay 4-1. In the fifth, they cruised to a 5-0 victory over non-league side Maidstone.
Match PredictionWolves are obviously going to be the favourites in this one but we don’t think it’s going to go all their own way, especially given the stakes involved. This is going to be a fascinating encounter and in terms of a prediction, we’re going to shoot for over 2.5 goals scored.
